In any case, I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely." She made the twelve-chaptered draft available on her website in fairness to her readers, since the novel was compromised before its intended publication date. She stated, "If I tried to write Midnight Sun now, in my current frame of mind, James would probably win and all the Cullens would die, which wouldn't dovetail too well with the original story. On August 28, 2008, Meyer halted the writing of Midnight Sun in response to the leak of twelve chapters of the unfinished manuscript on the Internet. To give them a better feel of Edward's character, Meyer allowed Catherine Hardwicke, the director of the film adaptation of Twilight, and Robert Pattinson, the actor playing Edward, to read some completed chapters of the novel while they shot the film. Meyer stated that Twilight was to be the only book from the series that she planned to rewrite from Edward's perspective. The work retells the events of Twilight from the perspective of Edward Cullen instead of that of the series' usual narrating character Bella Swan. Midnight Sun is a 2020 companion novel to the 2005 book Twilight by author Stephenie Meyer.

5/23/2023 0 Comments Heaven by randyLoved the book so they gave it one star, thinking that’s the highest rating (it’s actually the lowest ): Let me also assure you that I am writing with a smile and a sense of humor, not a frown and a sense of feeling hurt. I get plenty of that, so don’t feel sorry for me! Please allow me this indulgence, and also understand that I am speaking on behalf of other authors who frequently see their books misrepresented in reviews. I hope it doesn’t sound defensive, or like I’m fishing for positive feedback. So here is something I’ve never done-respond to reviews of my books. (My writer friends talk about this a lot-and we often laugh about it, though for some it is admittedly frustrating, since reviewers tend to get the last word even when they misunderstand and misrepresent what an author actually said.) But in some cases, the reasons for giving Heaven the lowest possible rating were entertaining, and other times enlightening. People are entitled to not like any book, of course, and I always welcome criticism of my books, and while they’re not fun, I usually manage not to take bad reviews personally. 5/22/2023 0 Comments An ember in the ashes book 3Review for An Ember in the Ashes Books 1-3 He and Laia will soon realize that their destinies are intertwined-and that their choices will change the fate of the Empire itself. There is nothing in all the characters you can really enjoy. Weak Point : I ended up disliking every single character, except perhaps Heather, the person in charge of the lodge. Thanks to this technique, we are able to see the different facets of each person. Strong Point : The way the author tells the story in “The Hunting Party” with continuous flashbacks to the past of the characters and to the last three days, makes the story even more interesting.įurthermore, we learn about the story and the characters from the point of view of the characters themselves. 5/22/2023 0 Comments Samantha young fight or flightNot long thereafter Ava realizes she's made a terrible error because as it turns out Caleb Scott isn't quite so unlikeable after all. (“Only connect,” to invoke Forster’s famous phrase.) But it was a disconnect, as A Passage to India proved. Masood became both Morgan’s lover and muse, reminding him that he has “an oriental sensibility” and inspiring him to write the “Indian novel” that Morgan resisted until he felt he could “connect” his world with Masood’s. That was the beginning of a relationship which lasted for fourteen years, as mentorship yielded to friendship, and then to love. Galgut does the same, using Forster’s diaries, among other sources, to animate the names memorialized in them.Ī Passage to India is dedicated to Syed Ross Masood, the Oxford-bound Indian whom Morgan (forget E. His method recalls that of Mary Renault, who identified the sources for her extraordinary novels about ancient Greece in an author’s note. Damon Galgut makes no attempt to finish the novel but uses the title for a reconstruction of Forster’s life, culminating in the writing of his masterpiece, A Passage to India. One can only imagine what Forster would have done with such a theme. Forster about the tension between marriage and friendship that results when a married man develops a close relationship with a male friend. Instead of following one prescribed path, there are multiple paths to success, and room for more people near the top. With this construct, it is easier to visualize multiple points of entry into a career, the possibility of moving laterally, or even down, across, and back up. It's not so much a career ladder as it is a jungle gym. Sandberg quotes Pattie Sellers, Editor at Large at Fortune Magazine, who offers a much better metaphor – think of it as a jungle gym. And the view of someone looking up from the bottom of a ladder is… less than ideal. One enlightening point Sandberg makes early in the book is that the common metaphor of thinking of climbing the “corporate ladder” is the wrong way to look at it. Throughout the course of a captivating and insightful book, Sandberg explores not only the challenges of leading as a woman in the work place, but also shares her thoughts on how current leadership could do better to provide equality for all, and offers strong words of encouragement and guidance for those who are actively leading. Authored by Sheryl Sandberg, formerly a vice president at Google and now Chief Operating Officer at Facebook, I found it to be an interesting, edifying, and very worthwhile read. One of the more recent and popular entries to the long list of good leadership books was Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead. 5/22/2023 0 Comments Nazanine hozar ariaThis is a metropolis that might well have swallowed Aria up as a newborn were it not for a kindly army driver.
